She is continually sought after to facilitate Workshops and provide Curriculum Development. As if this isn't enough, she also had a 40+ year career as a Paralegal/Legal Researcher.
Her story went national in 2009 when the Wall Street Journal caught wind of the work, she and the Non-Profit she led were doing in the community, running a half page story after following her to Washington, DC to the Inauguration of President Obama along with three wards of the State of Illinois who won an essay contest sponsored by her organization. Being a child of abuse and a teenage runaway equipped her for the service in the streets she performed and the Family Care ministry she so passionately administers today.
She has served on the Leadership Board of the National Consortium of Black Women in Ministry (NCBWIM) Chicago Chapter doing Advocacy for victims of Domestic Violence; she is a workshop facilitator at Domestic Abuse Forums teaching overcomers to Unapologetically use their voices by first setting themselves free as they help usher others to freedom.
When asked to summarize her journey, she states, "I fondly remember how my grandmother used to tell me that many people will not read the bible that I read, so if I wanted them to know what's in it (or any other book for that matter), I would have to LIVE it, as I would become the ON LY bible some people will ever read. Never have truer words been spoken. I aspire to live my life as such so that when people meet, listen and observe me in action, they begin to see the extension of my faith in my walk, talk, grow & glow."
However, with all of that, she still believes her greatest accomplishment is her ministry of motherhood to her three outstanding children Curtis II, Aieko Marie and Cameron Alexander, and by extension her ministry as Grandmother to 9 Souls who affectionately call her BiBi.
Stay tuned as she will soon be adding to her long list of accomplishments the title of author.
